Dr. Norma is the best vet our family has ever had! She is so kind, caring, and compassionate. She has been our vet since we moved back to town almost 10 years ago, and we won't go anywhere else! The whole staff has taken care of and helped us when we lost our 3 senior fur-family, and now currently takes care of our 4 younger ones ranging between 1.5 years old to 7 years old. The latest episode - our 7 year old cat Patrick Swayze developed diabetes and was on death's door, he is now thriving and back to his old self and gained some weight back. All of our fur-family members love to go in and see everyone in the office. She also doesn't try to gouge your wallet. Her vet techs go above and beyond as well! Robert and Holly, especially, have become like a second family that I trust as much as I trust Dr. Norma. I have way too many good things and experiences to say about how much I value what they do and have done for our family!

We came to St. Augustine for vacation and I brought my two dogs with me. Within 30 minutes, my older, visually impaired dog walked right into the pool. After that he was having trouble going to the bathroom and had me very concerned. He’s normally a happy-go-lucky fluff ball, but he was keeping his tail down, which equals a sad boy. I debated on whether it was worth it or not to take him to the vet, but I knew I’d have a hard time enjoying the trip if I was worried about him. I made an appointment at AWC, show up, and turns out I made the appointment for the wrong day. The staff was SO kind and took a look at my pup anyway. They treated him gently and took great care of him. Turns out the stress of traveling and taking an unexpected dip in the pool all in one day traumatized him a little more than I thought. They gave me some food and meds to help ease his tummy and now we can both enjoy the rest of our vacation. Thank you guys so much!!

These people are so empathetic and caring. They are head and shoulder above anyone I’ve been to in this area previously. Thank you for helping me to see how critical Auggie Bleu's hip condition is. I am waiting for a reply for surgery at U of F with Doctor Kim.

Dr. Norma Haupt, veterinarian par excellence, and her amazing staff cannot be commended highly enough for the many years of wonderful and compassionate care given to my beloved dog Suki, who had complex health issues. This praise extends not only to her office practice, but to Dr. Norma's talented and precise surgical skills, including an unexpected, difficult, and lifesaving abdominal surgery, which provided Suki with several extra years of excellent quality of life. New rescue dog Sydney also loves everyone at Animal Wellness! At this juncture, I also feel compelled to respond to the gentleman who complained about being turned away and whose one star review continues to appear after six years, provide context for why he might have received such a response, and why this criticism is unfounded. First, Animal Wellness, as a small vet practice, does limit its patient numbers so as to be able to provide the finest of service. I can provide assurance that, if your pet is Dr. Norma's patient, they will do everything possible to ensure your pet is immediately seen for urgent needs, as Suki was seen innumerable such times in her final years. Second, there are certain days where the vets are are scheduled for surgery all day and not available to attend to other issues. Quite frankly, I would not want Dr. Norma to walk out of Suki's 3.5 hour lifesaving surgery to attend to a dog with tummy troubles. Third, Dr. Norma was one of the founding and continuing members of St. Johns County's first (and still the only in the greater St. Augustine area) ER vet practice, created so that our local pets could receive evening and weekend emergency care without having to drive more than the "golden hour" in which trauma treatment can make all the difference. The very suggestion that she is uncaring, based on this caller's extremely limited information, is, in my opinion erroneous for all the reasons stated above. We are blessed to have many fine vet practices in the St. Augustine area, many of which have more than one or two vets on duty and are able to accommodate a higher volume of patients or provide appointments on short notice. One hopes that Shadow's owner was quickly able to locate such a vet after the inconvenience of a minute or two for the phone call.
