I had the best experience at this vet. I'm am thrilled to write a review. My wife and I mistakenly stopped here yesterday afternoon, We had the wrong address. One of the front desk staff, Missy, was willing to help us find the right location we were scheduled to go to which turned out to be 20 minutes away. She was the nicest person. My wife decided to ask if they had time to take us and examine our dog Oreo. They said they were booked but they will ask the doctor. Doctor Mark said yes. He took Oreo in, examined him and spent time with us to answer all of our questions. We were able to tell he really cared about animals. We were not rushed in anyway even though they were over booked. We also met the office manager and she was just as nice and very professional. She took the time to explain their processes and what they had to offer. The place was so clean and it did not have any kind of bad odor in the office. I was really amazed on how clean it was inside. From the beginning, Missy took the time to help us even when we were not initially their customer,. If it wasn't for her we would not have met Dr. Mark, the manager and all the other great staff at Country Oaks. Bring your pets to Country Oaks...They really care and do a good job in showing it.
So far this office has been so lovely to work with. The staff are the absolute sweetest and the vets are fantastic too. I feel so comfortable boarding our dogs here when we are away. My husband and I are so grateful for their help when a minor vehicle accident happened in the parking lot after picking up the dogs and they brought the dogs back inside for AC and while my husband waited for FHP. They stayed later than they needed to for our dogs that evening and it made me feel bad that they probably wanted to go home but I felt so good knowing I am trusting these caring people with my dogs. Definitely stopped by with some treats for the staff the next day to express some of our gratitude.
Have been coming here with my two dogs for 10+ years. The staff is always so sweet to humans and to animals. It is always the same familiar faces that the dogs know and love. Both of my dogs have had to stay over night to receive fluids and other sorts of treatments on various occasions and the staff is always with out a doubt on top of it and do everything with a smile on their face. You can tell each and every one of them loves animals.
My best friend has been a customer of this veterinary office for years, and she absolutely loves them for the way they care for her dog. Her dog, BabyCakes, is about 10 years old, and age comes with LOTS of problems. My friend has told me SEVERAL TIMES over the years that I've known her, how great they are with her dog. Any time Baby gets sick or needs urgent care, they work her into the schedule. They also see her at least once a month to cut her nails and do some other routine care. From what my friend tells me, their prices are better than some other veterinary offices, but since I've never taken my pets there (we have our own doctor), I really can't vouch for that. Still, when I was there with her and Baby, the staff were very friendly, very loving toward both my friend and Baby, the office was clean and had no foul odors, and they are friendly and professional. Because my friend loves them so much, I have no problems recommending them and, in fact, would definitely take my own pets there if my vet office were to close.
Our healthy 6-year-old Golden recently developed bloodshot eyes, so we took him to Country Oaks. Dr. Shirley did eye pressure and UV dye tests and said it looked like allergies, so she prescribed eye drops and ear medicine for a slight ear infection, she said to return in 2 weeks. Each day after, the redness stayed the same and the day before the 2 week appointment, his eye started to droop and his vision was starting to decline. At the 2-week appointment, Dr. Shirley saw his eyes and immediately stated to me that someone should have told us (like maybe her?) that if his eyes were not improving to let them know ASAP, because the eyes can decline rapidly.....which she acknowledged nobody had done. She then for some reason decided to repeat the same pressure/UV drop tests that she had done 2 weeks earlier and predictably again found nothing. But they did charge us another $270 to repeat those tests. She finally told us that she didn't know what the problem was and that we needed to find a specialist. We found Blue Pearl. The earliest available appointment was 2 days later. By the time we got him to Blue Pearl, he was essentially blind in one eye and nearly blind in the other. He could not see anything or walk anywhere unassisted. He was walking into doors and walls and well as tripping on objects or falling when going up and down stairs. We were told by Blue Pearl after they evaluated him that "severe damage" had been done and the left eye would likely never regain normal sight and the right eye is "iffy". We were told that he was likely in pain with the optic nerve swollen so badly. He was diagnosed with bilateral uveitis. Prolonged, severe swelling in both eyes caused irreversible damage. We were told that if we had come in earlier, much of the damage would have likely been prevented. I realized that we'd be better off and better informed by simply Googling my dog's symptoms, rather than wasting $600 dollars and 2 critical weeks by putting my trust into Country Oaks. Blue Pearl immediately diagnosed his condition and prescribed medication. By the time I got home an hour later, his vision was starting to improve. The left eye remains very damaged, while the right is "stable". This has been several months and over $5,000 (and counting). Blue Pearl still wanted more testing to find the underlying cause of the uveitis, some of which Country Oaks can do at a cheaper cost. So I requested and paid for blood, urine, and fecal tests at Country Oaks and took home the containers for the urine and fecal samples to be collected and returned. I brought the specimen containers in and was told by Yvette that because it was just over 30 days I'd have to pay for it again.....another $120! This 30-day nonsense, of course, was never told to me by the staff when I paid for it and picked up the containers. I asked if I get any kind of refund since I already paid for this. She said.....nope. My advice, is that if you care about your pet, please think about finding another vet that is both competent and compassionate about your pet, beyond just profiting from you. Not once during this stressful 4 months did anyone at this office feign empathy, offer an apology, or convey any regret for misdiagnosing the uveitis or the negligent delay of not recommending us to a specialist weeks earlier. Soon after, I started receiving bills from C.O. for $148 for a (PT/PTT) panel. That is a test that Blue Pearl said was for a possible biopsy should it be needed during the ultrasound to rule out any cancers or other issues. So I requested a "quote" for C.O. to save some money, only to find that Blue Pearl required the blood panel to be done by them on the day of the procedure and thus it was done by Blue Pearl. Yet, C.O. decided to bill me for it! I was told by another veterinarian that I should file a complaint that it is illegal to knowingly bill for services not performed. This shady nonsense is beyond infuriating.
