This is the absolutely most professional veterinary clinic I have been too. It felt like a family setting. The staff were amazing and understanding. I’ve been a pet owner for 35 years. I’m glad I found a place to finally call ours when it comes to the care of my fur babies.
I'm so disappointed in the direction this practice has taken. I've been coming here for nearly 20 years. The care has always been excellent, but the costs have become rapacious. While I understand that costs have gone up across the board, they have mysteriously increased at a MUCH higher rate here. I now routinely have emergency vet bills that are lower than what Haines Road changes for a sick cat visit--including at BluePearl! I'm only still coming here because I have an elderly cat with a complicated history and they know him well. Once he's gone, I will absolutely be switching vets.
My first, and what has been my last impression as well, is that this animal hospital focus’s more on the bill itself, rather their customers. My initial take on the place when walking in, is that the office is cold and non personable. As a first time customer, no one, nor any of the 5 people upfront cared to smile and say hello. Building a rapport with a new client and providing a warm welcome was not their priority. All communication seemed to be lacking since they wouldn’t provide a response via email. I had to later call to get a response to my emails. I took my two pups here for the first time to mainly get their nails clipped. While we were there, we also had them do a senior blood/urine analysis report (which was VERY OVER PRICED). What really irritated me, is that when they took our pups to a back room (why I don’t know when we were already in a room), I had no idea what was going on, and when they brought them back into our visit room, I am almost certain they never even trimmed all their nails. I remember questioning to the vet did they actually trim their nails upon their return. There was no noticeable difference. And I felt like they lied to us because they didn’t want to put in the work to actually trim our pups nails, which wouldn’t be an easy task given our pups personalities and fear of being there. They also returned both our dogs with their annals leaking tremendously. Which is expected. What was not expected is that there was no effort to even try and wipe them down even the slightest. I’ve had vets before tell me they cleaned their annals or even squeezed them since they were leaking. This time. Our pups were handed back to us like it wasn’t their problem to deal with. I had to myself which thankfully we had a room with a sink and paper towels. It felt like a lack of care (which is ironic while being at a vet), and a lack of effort all around. I also didn’t like that they didn’t cut their nails in front of us. It felt like they were being sneaky doing it in another room in the event they couldn’t trim all the nails after all. And when they took our dogs it was sudden and unexpected and happened so fast without warning. Especially as a first time client there. What also really bothered me was when we questioned our concerned about a bare spot on our dogs tail, the vets response was “well sometimes it could be a flea allergy”. No other response or questions asked by the vet, rather it felt dismissed because they didn’t know the answer or didn’t have time to discuss further. Now I’m no vet- but my dog has had that bare spot on his tail his entire life, I can assure you at this point it’s most likely not a flea allergy rather caused by something else. Whether the response was correct or not, I felt the treatment was effortless, carelessness, and or there was a lack of education on the vets part. When my friend found out how much we paid for our dogs urine / blood tests, she gasped and said she’s never paid that much before and has done it a few times for her dog, whose older than ours. All I can say: is I take my pups visit to vets very seriously and have high standards for those taking my money and claiming to have my pups best interest. I want my pups vet to care more about their health than I do. And I did not feel this at all with Haines animal hospital. We will not be taking our pups back here for any reason at all.
They took a look at my Great Dane and through the entire process was there and looking out for both him and us. We ultimately decided to let him go and about a week later we had a card in the mail from the vet talking about how she could see how much he meant to us with a bag of Forget Me Nots in it. This is the best vet I have ever dealt with and have mentioned them to many of my friends and coworkers because Haynes Road Animal Hospital truly cares.
This place and their employees are the best ever. We have a 6 week old puppy that was very sick, they got us in there on super short notice and treated my family with the upmost respect and made us feel so welcomed. They got Ludo puppymans the destroyer fixed up perfectly. He's on his way to recovery happy and healthy. Thanks again to the staff for everything you did for my family. I 💯% will recommend this business to all my friends and family.
