My pets have been seeing Dr. Hodge for over 12 years now! We started going to him at Cross Creek Animal Medical Centre and then moved to Harbourside. He is always kind and compassionate even with my spicy kitty! He always offers the best suggestions to help keep my babies healthy!
Sharing my own experience, as I want people to be aware of perceived tactics to corner you and make you pay exorbitant amounts of money on nothing while initiating mountains of worry & fear for nothing. I brought my cat and dog in as new patients a few months ago, as I recently moved to the area and was looking to get them established. My dog was kind of written off, but I brought my otherwise totally healthy cat (she does eat special food for her urinary condition, so I wanted to get her checked up) and was told by the vet something along the lines that she “possibly has a 50% chance of having cancer”. Nearly $4,000 later, the vet kept saying that they needed to do more (and more invasive) tests, yet I didn’t see anything wrong with her nor were they ever able to give her an official diagnosis…just a “need” for more tests. Based on my experience, I believe this vet preys on the hearts of animal lovers by assuming they’ll pay anything just as long as they keep using very vague, very scary medical terms to try and insist your pet *might* have a serious condition. I cried and cried for weeks thinking my cat was going to die, but then I started noticing a pattern that another comment mentioned — I never actually got to meet the vet, the vet would continuously use jargon and scary-sounding terms to get me back in, even when nothing was wrong. They bombard you with phone calls and emails trying to get more money. It’s really sad. What’s worse, they said I would have to repeat the tests at least every 6 months…I’m sorry, but I rescued my cat years ago and she’s never had a problem beyond what her prescription food is able to fix. I’m not paying +$8,000 annually for her to “maybe have a problem, maybe it’s nothing.” I will be changing vets happily, as I did not sign my cat up to be a test subject for this facility. She’s elderly and going to live the rest of her life as happily as possible, and I am disappointed with the “care” received from Harbourside.
Wonderful, caring staff will make you feel welcome from the moment you step inside. They saw my dog same day for a broken toe. If you are anywhere in the city I'd look no further. Lovely loft style decor.
Worst vet I’ve ever been with. Tabitha specifically was incredibly rude threatening to send me my records because I was clearly unsatisfied with being forced to reschedule a second time. They have incredibly limited parking, the vet never makes an effort to meet clients and tries to coerce spending money by saying your dog has a possible serious condition on the very first visit (she was fine, just a growing pup) and to top it all off they down you with emails constantly trying to get more money out of you. Don’t go here!
Wonderful experience taking my dog Maggie there to treat an ear infection. Dr. Hodge was very informative and great with her! The rest of the staff was great too; very informative, friendly and attentive. Prices were very reasonable and are provided before the services are performed so you know what to expect. The exam seemed very thorough and detailed, along with the report notes they give to you (and send via e-mail). Overall, great first experience and will definitely be taking Maggie there in the future. I highly recommend to anyone.
