I recently had the pleasure of working with New Horizons Service Dogs in Orange City, Florida, and I can't say enough good things about my experience. From start to finish, their professionalism, dedication, and passion for what they do were evident. The staff at New Horizons are incredibly knowledgeable and compassionate, taking the time to understand each individual's needs to match them with the perfect service dog. The dogs themselves are exceptionally well-trained, demonstrating not only their skills but also their gentle and loving nature. The training program is thorough and supportive, ensuring that both the dog and handler are fully prepared for their new life together. This organization truly changes lives, providing independence and companionship through their wonderful service dogs. I wholeheartedly recommend New Horizons Service Dogs to anyone in need of a service animal. Their commitment to excellence and the positive impact they have on the community is truly inspiring.
New Horizons Service Dogs has served individuals with disabilities for almost 30 years. Raising and training specially bred Golden and Labrador retrievers from their Orange City office. The organization is working through some administrative changes, but the work goes on...
Amazing staff who truly loves these pups. They live a happy life until they find their forever home. This is a wonderful place to volunteer if you want a taste of farm life and puppy love.
Non-profit work is never easy. However through volunteers, donations and love my daughter has been gifted her best friend. We are almost three years matched with her service dog and I can't say enough good things about New Horizons. Two weeks ago we were able to get her pup's eyes checked at the main facility, and as a bonus got to socialize some new puppies. Everything at the facility is clean, the puppies are so happy and have an amazing play area. We personally know puppy raisers, trainers and volunteers who are all incredible people. Again, non-profit work is difficult, built on a community and is a family, not perfect but the goal is to give independence, happiness and the ability to succeed in the world to the recipients of these dogs. We are so appreciative to New Horizons for this light in our lives.
I volunteered as a caretaker and left after 2 months for a few reasons. Dogs had no real training, no real/true trainers on-site, dogs were sick often, dogs had no real outside time--kenneled most the day and only trained for maybe an hour a day. Left feeling very sad for the dogs. I also had an emergency with my own dog and NO sympathy was shown.
