We brought in our Samoyed for the first time late last night due to a leg injury and he was in pain walking (most likely from chasing his arch nemesis the cat). We were worried he dislocated his hip with the amount of pain he was showing. The staff were amazing! We didn’t even sit down in the waiting room -the front desk ushered us into an exam room and the clinical staff immediately started X-rays and evaluations . Everyone was super friendly and caring. The vet on duty met with us and was informative on his test results and follow up care. Thankfully, it was just a sprain and he was prescribed meds for a few days. I usually do not write reviews but I was very impressed with the staff and their level of care. Happy holidays and thank you.

We were so impressed with every aspect of Veterinary Emergency Clinic during our first visit today! Our 4-year-old Corgi, Misty, had an irritated eye that got increasingly worse with home remedies, so our regular vet (East Orange Animal Hospital) recommended that we take her here since it was Saturday and eye problems can have serious repercussions if not addressed early. I called VEC to make sure they weren’t too busy and they were very pleasant on the phone. Check-in went smoothly when we arrived and they told us how many patients were waiting to be seen and approximately what our wait time would be. The waiting area was clean, as was the room where we were seen. The vet tech and veterinarian were very friendly, not rushed or stressed, and did a great job of reading her chart first, asking helpful questions, making sure we understood what the plan was, treating Misty sweetly, and even brought out an estimated bill (high end to low end, since treatment depended on what they found) before doing any testing or treatment. Speaking of which, the bill itself was surprisingly similar to a regular vet visit! We were worried about paying Pet ER pricing, but VEC is vet-owned and they’re clearly in it for the good of the animals (not just to make tons of money by upcharging.) We were seen within two hours (as estimated) and the scan was shown to us (photo below) with an explanation of what they saw, what Rx was needed and we left with drugs. Highly, highly recommend VEC to anyone considering them and we’re grateful to know that this is an option when our vet is unavailable.

I am so grateful for this practice because they saved my dog's life after she was bitten by a snake. They are compassionate, professional, and competent. I really appreciate the care they gave both my pet and our family. Yes, it is expensive but I would pay anything to save my pet as she is a member of the family. Thank you!!!

We brought our dog in because he had two seizures less than an hour apart. When we got there we were brought to a room right away and saw a tech very quickly. The staff was super nice and patient with us. Dr. Hamilton was wonderful in explaining concerns and what she recommended. We were extremely nervous to leave him overnight at a vet office other than our regular vet and they reassured us he would be okay. I got an update on him close to midnight that he was doing well which was comforting. Thank you so much for taking care of our bowser buddy ❤️

I want to start by giving gratitude to the 3 people that were friendly, calming, and helpful throughout our process, they are the only reason I am not giving a one star review. Thank you Starla and Sicily for getting our pup in immediately and helping us throughout. Thank you Rachel the tech for being understanding and willing to explain everything. The issue we had was with the vet Kim Al-Mayyah. Our 6 month old puppy who is very well mannered broke a glass item and cut his front paw. There was extensive amounts of blood. When we brought him in and finally saw her after neaely an hour wait. She labelled him as "difficult and hyper" before even meeting him. Rachel had previously told us they would take him back to remove the bandage and examine the wound. That is not what the vet did. She walked in asked us to hold him and take off the bandage ourselves while she examined him. She then said "dont let him get me" as she looked at his paw, as if he was a danger to her. Apollo is a kind and loving pup that weve had since birth and he had never had any moments of aggression. She immediately said it needed sutures, barely even looking at it. She told us to leave the bandage off and let him bleed while she gets the invoice because she didnt want him eating the bandage. After a few minutes we notice hes lost a lot of blood, and his gums were getting pale. We walked outside to ask Starla and Sicily to get the vet. Starla carried him to the back. It took the vet nearly 30 min to get us the invoice, which she sent Rachel to explain to us. We explained our experience to Rachel who said that we can ask her any questions and she will relay to the vet. Kim refused to come speak with us further. After the procedure we found out that the glass cut through tendon and artery, which means that he could've bled out if we followed the vets recommendations of "letting him bleed" while she got us an invoice. After reviewing the paperwork once we picked him up, we noticed that the vet Kim falsified documentation. She noted that there was "no bleeding noted". When we took our documentation and Apollo to our vet Dr. Kindred, he said the documentation was too vague to get an idea of the severity of the wound and he would have to get in contact with the vet to see how much of the tendon was cut so he knows how long the cast and splint needs to be on and when he can remove the sutures. I appreciate the medical help our dog Apollo received, but if we hadnt intervened and advocated for him he wouldve been dead because Kim thought the invoice was more important than a cut artery.
