You don't always get to choose what day to help your dog across the rainbow bridge; our boy decided Thanksgiving Day was the day. Service here was exceptional, every staff member treated him with love and respect like he was their own. Pricing was reasonable, especially for a holiday. Very nice warm, comfort-minded room to spend your last moments with your loved one. My experience here made the process suck a little less The photo is him sleeping while waiting on the doctor
Our dog, Ray, had some stomach issues and we were sent here by our regular vet! Manny did a great job of examining our dog and gave us the best options moving forward! Absolutely love finding someone who puts their patients first above anything else…he even called us back to check on our dog after everything and you could tell he genuinely cares.
My special thanks to the staff at Veterinary Emergency Clinic for taking care of my lil Chihuahua, Cashew! He had an infection right after the Hurricane and my reg. Vet was closed due to storm damage. He needed surgery and they took him right in. Jazzy was a wonderful source of confidence as was Dr. Painter, Dr. Shepherd and Manny. He had to stay overnight and I was so worried about him getting anesthesia. He came through great and the prices weren't as bad as I would have thought for emergency services. Thanks again to the whole staff for being there when I needed you the most!! Clean, friendly and professional, I can't be more pleased!!
PLEASE READ BEFORE TAKING YOUR PET HERE!! I have had my shepherd pup since 8 weeks old he is now almost two, I know of bloat and took all the precautions to prevent it, However Gunther is very hi-strung and when I noticed he seemed to be in pain and his tummy was very tight I knew something was wrong and not wanting to take any chances I rushed him to the closest emergency clinic. They took x-rays and confirmed the worst, it was bloat. I knew time was ticking for him and even though I caught it in the early stages I still panicked. The clinic was very nice, the vet on duty very sympathetic, however they didn't do this type of surgeries there. They suggested going to Veterinary Emergency Clinic in Fruitland park. I didn't have much money and after paying for the emergency check up, xrays and pain shot, it left me in even worse condition. They told me the clinic was privately owned and they were known to work with people on the money. So I rushed him there knowing that I might not make it to the two other available clinics in the area because he could die on the way. Once I arrived at this clinic they took Gunther in the back and I was immediately taken into a room where I was met with someone from the office to explain how much the surgery would cost before they could do anythig to help him. The cost would be on the low side near $4500.00 and on the hi side $7500.00! Since I didn't have pet insurance I would need to come up with at least $4500.00 before they would do the surgery. My baby was hurting...dying slowly in the next room and they wouldn't do anything until the money was sorted. I was so angry. they wouldn't take payments or let me try to raise the money afterwards, they gave me three options. I could pay to have him put down, take him now and try to find another clinic (or watch him die slowly and in extreme pain) Or surrender all rights to him and the vet would do the surgery and he would be placed in a rescue and find a forever home. I had no choice, I didn't want him to die! I had to surrender my baby! What kind of a vet that supposedly works with a rescue would take a dog from a loving home, the only home he's ever known and put him into a shelter, knowing how many dogs are in shelters and many never find they're forever homes? I never met the vet, they never showed themselves. The heartless people there wouldn't let me call to see how he did, they said I would surrender any rights to know his outcome. What kind of people are they? Please, please, unless you have really good pet insurance and a large open balance on your credit card, do not take your pets here!!
Yesterday, we had to say goodbye to our 15.5-year-old Poodle, Dude. While this wasn’t the first time we’ve faced such a difficult decision, this experience was different in a way that made it more bearable. Nick, the vet, helped us navigate this heart-wrenching moment with compassion and kindness. He gave us all the time we needed to say our goodbyes, walking us through the process and reassuring us that we were making the right choice, even though it was so hard. We all wish we could keep our pets forever, and this was no exception. But Nick made sure Dude stayed with us for as long as we needed. I was able to hold him until the very end, and it was painful, but Nick understood and allowed us to grieve in that moment. His kindness made a difficult situation a little bit easier. In the past, our experiences have been different, with our pups being laid on a table for their final moments, while we stood by. But this time, Dude was in my arms, and I could feel his presence the whole way through. I don’t know if all goodbyes are handled with such care, or if this was a reflection of Nick’s exceptional approach, but if we ever have to face this decision again, I hope it’s as loving and compassionate as it was this time. Goodbye, Dude. See you at the bridge.
